Ontario Invests In Community Services In London

McGuinty Government Helps Build Safe, Secure and Accessible Community Agencies

NEWS                                                         March 3, 2009

Ontario is investing over $62,000 in London for local agencies who are providing social services to people in our community.

These funds are part of a $3.2-million province-wide investment to improve accessibility, safety and security in community social service agencies. This investment will help agencies upgrade their facilities and serve more people.

In London, funding is being distributed as follows:

  • $4000 to the Alice Saddy Association
  • $7500 to Community Living London
  • $37,000 to Women's Community House
  • $14,000 to Community Living London

This funding will allow these agencies to keep their facilities in good condition for those who need them, and will help cover the costs of important building improvements such as: exterior lighting, roofing, emergency door expansion, flooring, and kitchen renovations.

“Our social service agencies in London do terrific work in our community,” said Deb Matthews, MPP London North Centre. “That’s why it’s so important that these agencies are safe, secure and accessible to everyone.”
